Philanthropist and young mother of 3 Petra Stunt started the Petra Stunt Foundation to help fund work in her dual areas of concern, meningitis and autism, both conditions which affect children and young people and which have touched her personally.
In her teens Petra contracted viral meningitis – a truly frightening experience that changed her life. For the past decade, she has campaigned to raise funds and awareness for the charity Meningitis NOW. At her own wedding, rather than accept gifts she asked instead for donations to the charity.
In 2015, Petra launched Snowflakes & Sparkles a magical children’s charity event to raise money for and awareness of Meningitis.
In 2016, Petra funded the Meningitis Now signs and symptoms cards for every new mother’s birth pack in the UK and in 2017 will work to raise awareness of the disease within student communities where it is often mistaken for a hangover. She has also championed work in the field of Autism to benefit young children and their families through early diagnosis, therapy and research.
